Custom Painted MX Helmet -Blue Flash
This custom painted MX helmet -Blue Flash, was a cool pattern directed airbrushed Shoei helmet, for Tyson Symanowski with his ideas as his second custom project with us. Tyson had loved the design of his first custom painted motocross helmet, so he wanted this one to share a similar vibe but with some fresh twists. Using custom helmet painting techniques, we crafted a design that stayed true to his original custom painted MX helmet while adding a new twist, to make this offroad custom painted helmet a newer swing for the dirt.
The base of the helmet featured a House of Kolor Tru-Blue, some custom candy oriental color, with metallic. To create depth and movement, we used helmet airbrushing to layer fading shades of blue, blending them seamlessly from light to dark. Tyson’s racing number, 531, was integrated into the design with a graffiti font, alternating a STAR KS logo for his girls in the pattern. Pretty cool thinking if you ask me. Totally his idea. The number / initial pattern was the base of this custom painted MX helmet, so we made sure it was noticeable.
We wanted this custom painted motocross helmet to feel personal as always, so we added a special touch just for Tyson’s family. The names of his wife, Kendyl, and daughter, Kellie, were airbrushed into the design, in a heart 520 moto chain banner kind of logo. These heartfelt ideas are what make custom helmet airbrushing so meaningful for me, when someone thinks it up, it just make my job so much cooler, and appreciated—it’s not just about the look but also about the owner’s life to me. At least, that’s how I like to paint people’s stuff. If it’s not personal like this one, then it’s really not worth my time, is how I look at it I guess…
Added in, silver metallic pinstripes, giving the custom painted motocross helmet a sharp polished look. On the back, Symanowski was airbrushed in a graffiti lettering as he had requested.
This custom painted moto helmet wasn’t just about aesthetics—it was designed by Tyson to show appreciation for his family. Gotta dig that man. Every step of this MX helmet painting process, I custom painted and airbrushed and pinstriped with that in mind to ensure the paintwork would be worth everyone’s time and thought. From the first coat to the final clear finish.
When Tyson saw his new custom painted helmet, I think he liked it. I think he liked how we stayed true to his original custom helmet style from the first one, and liked the updated look. The vibrant custom candy blue helmet and the personal touches made it truly one of a kind Tyson. Whether he’s practicing moto, or out racing, this custom painted MX helmet is a cool reflection of Tyson’s family.
I enjoy when I rarely get to hand a freshly custom painted helmet to someone (usually they get shipped back and forth, and I don’t get to meet people face to face) so I enjoyed handing this custom painted MX helmet to him at the shop when it was finished. Every helmet is an opportunity to create something special, with personal stories and Tyson nailed it again. This custom airbrushed Shoei helmet is a standout ND piece.
