Steve McQueen Helmet

Rob, one of the coolest Dad’s I’ve met, designed a custom painted Steve McQueen helmet for his son, Ari.  ( WATCH THE VIDEO above To get a BETTER idea ) This was a very special project for me… Ari is super fast on the track and races in the Southeast karting series, based not far from me in Tennessee. He’s amazing behind the wheel.   After we finished the custom painted karting helmet, I even got to watch Ari race and succeed.

This custom painted auto helmet was painted with Steve McQueen style in mind. It had cool racing stripes and bold colors. We used helmet airbrushing to make the details relevant.  The shine and style made this automotive custom helmet look fast and classic. It felt like something from a McQueen movie…

Custom helmet airbrushing is great because we can add small touches that really stand out. For Ari’s helmet, we made sure it was bold, shiny, and ready for the track. It’s one of my favorite custom painted helmets ever. The whole time I worked on it, I kept thinking how cool it was that a young racer like Ari loved an old-school star like Steve McQueen.

The final custom auto race helmet looked amazing under the lights. It was bold, clean, and full of racing spirit. It’s not just a custom painted karting helmet—it’s a piece of art and a piece of history, too. It shows how much Rob cares about his son, and how much Ari loves racing.

Working with this family reminded me why I love helmet painting so much. Every custom painted helmet tells a story. Some are wild and colorful. Others, like Ari’s, are strong and classic. That’s what makes custom airbrushed helmets so fun—we can bring ideas to life in our own way.

This custom painted automotive helmet also shows how families can work together, support each other, and enjoy the ride. Rob had a great idea. Ari had the drive and passion. And I got to bring it all together with a pin-stipe brush and airbrush.

Thanks to Rob, Ari, and their awesome family for letting me come and watch Ari drive,  this custom airbrushed helmet was made with heart, history, and a whole lot of fun.   Honestly, my favorite part of the entire  process was sitting in the stands with Ari’s sister.  She was amazing.   I can’t remember her named as I am tying this months later…   But OMG, the most hilarious 7-8 year old I have ever met.   I will never forget the experience…
