(These were done back in the early 2000’s mind you…   many many copies of these since.  These ones were the first, and I’ve done several, and mine are clearly the most precise when you look at them. No corners cut on anything.  Hence the pricing. No Hokie Trailer half ass stuff here.  You get what you pay for.)    – Creating custom painted helmets inspired by Jack Skellington and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas was fun. Kevin Garcia of Phoenix, AZ wanted something truly special for himself and his girlfriend—a matching set of Jack and Sally custom painted helmets that would reflect their love for the iconic movie and their bond as a couple. These Nightmare Before Christmas custom helmets became a stunning example of how custom helmet painting can bring a shared passion to life, and be hilarious at the same time.

Kevin envisioned a design that celebrated the dark yet romantic world of Jack and Sally. We started with a black base for both helmets, perfect for the eerie, whimsical tone of the movie. For Kevin’s custom Jack Skellington helmet, we airbrushed Jack’s grinning face across the front, making sure his expressive eyes stood out through custom painted eyeports on the shield. The top of the helmet featured the iconic spiraled hill with a glowing full moon behind it. On the back, we added silhouettes of Halloweentown’s trees and buildings, creating a haunting yet beautiful scene.

For his girlfriend’s custom painted Sally helmet, we highlighted Sally’s patchwork dress patterns, blending them seamlessly across the helmet’s curves. Sally’s thoughtful, loving expression took center stage on the front, while details like her stitched seams and red hair gave the design extra depth. The back of her helmet mirrored Kevin’s, with the spiraled hill and moon tying the two designs together. These touches ensured that the helmets were cohesive as a pair while still showcasing each character’s unique personality.

One of the most exciting parts of this project was incorporating Kevin’s specific ideas. He requested that we airbrush subtle details from the movie, like the Oogie Boogie Man’s silhouette inside the moon and the graves surrounding Halloweentown. We also added delicate tree branches and quotes from the film, like “Simply meant to be,” to capture the heartfelt connection between Jack and Sally. Every element of the custom airbrushed street helmets was carefully chosen to bring the movie’s magic to life.

The challenge with this set of custom painted street helmets was making sure the designs didn’t lose their impact when worn on a bike. By leaving the eye ports open and perfectly aligning the artwork around them, we ensured that both helmets looked incredible on the street while remaining safe and functional. The final designs almost transformed the helmets into moving pieces of art, blurring the line between fantasy and reality.

The reaction from Kevin and his girlfriend was everything we could hope for. They were thrilled with their custom painted motorcycle helmets, which now turn heads wherever they ride. The intricate details, vivid colors, and seamless airbrushing made these Jack and Sally custom helmets a true labor of love. Kevin told us that wearing their helmets felt like stepping into the world of The Nightmare Before Christmas, bringing them even closer to a story they both cherish. (I didn’t write that part right there again.  That was Ai.   and that was incredibly dramatic and sappy.)

This project reminded us why we’re so passionate about helmet airbrushing. The ability to take an idea, a story, or a personal connection and turn it into a wearable masterpiece is what makes custom helmet painting so rewarding.
