This Hudson Deegan custom painted helmet was one of the most exciting projects I’ve worked on. The Deegan family—Brian, Marissa, Hailie, Haiden, and Hudson—are always a blast to collaborate with, and their designs are some of the coolest in the world of motocross. Hudson, or Huck as they call him, came up with the ideas for this custom painted helmet, and it really shows his fun personality. He’s got such a creative side, and working with him on this Deegan MX helmet was a joy from start to finish.
For the design, Hudson wanted something bold and unique that would stand out on the track. He also wanted it to show off his love for fishing, which is one of his favorite hobbies. Talking with Brian about Hudson’s ideas, I knew we had to come up with a design that would capture both his passion for MX and his playful side. Using custom helmet airbrushing, we created a design that is as fun as it is fierce, just like Hudson himself.
We started with a bright blue base to reflect the colors of the water, tying in the fishing theme right away. The blue was mixed with metallic flakes to make it shimmer in the sunlight, giving the helmet a dynamic and eye-catching look. Next, we used helmet airbrushing to add some cool fishing elements, like detailed airbrushed fish and waves that wrapped around the helmet. It was important to keep the design sharp and clean, so the fishing details blended perfectly with the rest of the helmet.
On the sides, we included the iconic Deegan family logo in bold black and white, giving the helmet a signature motocross vibe. To make the Hudson Deegan helmet truly unique, we added a playful touch with some cartoon-style fishing rods and hooks that matched Hudson’s personality. This part of the custom helmet painting process was all about letting his creativity shine. Every detail was hand-painted with care to make sure the helmet felt personal and special.
The finishing touch was Hudson’s name airbrushed on the back in a sleek, modern font. We chose a bright orange outline to make it pop against the blue background. The combination of bold colors and intricate details made this airbrushed helmet a standout piece. Once the design was complete, we sealed it with a high-gloss clear coat to protect the artwork and give the helmet a professional, polished finish.
When Hudson saw the helmet, his reaction was priceless. It’s always so rewarding to see someone light up when they get their custom helmet. The Deegan family has been incredible to work with over the years, and creating this Hudson Deegan custom painted helmet was another great experience. Hudson’s love for motocross and fishing came through in every part of the design, making it a true reflection of who he is.
This project reminded me why I love helmet painting so much. It’s not just about creating cool designs—it’s about telling a story and making something that truly represents the person wearing it. Hudson’s Deegan MX helmet is more than just gear for the track; it’s a piece of his personality brought to life through custom helmet airbrushing.
Working with the Deegan family has always been a highlight of my career, and this project was no exception.
