Jet Ski Custom Painted Helmet
This custom painted jetski helmet was as noble and bold of jet ski custom painted helmet I’ve seen to date. I custom painted and airbrushed this project for Paul Del Rosario from the Philippines. Paul races jet skis professionally, and wanted something bold and fast-looking for his next tournament jetski race helmet. He had seen a design I did before for Tanner Reidman, and really liked the black and gold filigree artwork. So, we gave Paul his own version of it—clean, black and gold, and packed with style. We also added his personal logo to make it truly his own Jet Ski custom helmet lid design.
Helmet airbrushing like this takes too many stupid hours when you don’t expect them. The gold filigree design wasn’t easy. Swirls, curves, shading, and very fine lines that need perfection. The custom helmet airbrushing process made my hands scream, but all worth it in the end. To make the gold stand out, highlights and dark shadows. This makes the gold filigree 3D. When the sun hits sections of this airbrushed helmet, it rolls… showing off detail. That’s what makes helmet painting fun. Not exactly knowing until the clearcoat is poured on, and it’s seen in the direct sunlight. Like all, this custom painted helmet didn’t do f++ckin justice with photos. It had to be seen in your hands.
Paul’s custom jetski race helmet wasn’t just for show—it was made to go fast on the water. And he made it do so…. That’s the cool thing about custom helmet painting. It’s not only about how it looks—it’s also about making paint that holds up while doing what it’s made for. Getting beat to SH+T…
The colors on this jetski custom helmet were clean. Nothing more beautiful than a perfect black. This jetski water helmet was a piece of art that raced across the waves. People at the races would stop and look when Paul put on his custom painted Fox race helmet as it stood out and told everyone he was fast as balls.
I’ve done a thousand custom painted helmets, but this one was special, as Paul saw one of my other custom designs for Tanner, and said, THATS SICK! let’s spin off other that! The fine pinstriping, the careful shading, and the glowing gold all came together to make something really unique. The helmet had to look good from far away and close up. That meant every swirl in the design had to be neat and crisp. That’s why helmet airbrushing is so slow—every little detail matters, and you can make something that’s totally one-of-a-kind.
Paul loved his custom painted ski helmet, and it showed. He raced hard and won, and his helmet became part of his style if at least for a moment. Working on a custom painted jetski helmet like this can be fun. You know you’re helping someone look and feel awesome while doing what they love, at the same time doing the only thing that I am good at.
I’ll paint more Jet ski custom helmets for Paul like this in seasons to come. Each one is different and has its own story. Whether it’s for speed, for fun, or just to stand out, custom painted helmets are always a dumb waste of money to tell a story. They’re just Effin cool. That’s all there is to it, and this jetski custom helmet was made with care, passion, and lots of hours, just like all of DBcustoms helmets.
