Jay Gonzalez from New York, NY reached out to me with a unique request for a custom painted helmet. He wanted a custom painted Chucky helmet that would be perfect for his street bike rides. I was thrilled because I had always wanted to create a Chucky-themed design, and now I finally had the chance. For this project, Jay chose a Shoei RF1200, a perfect canvas for helmet painting and helmet airbrushing.

We started by planning the design. Jay sent over some specific images of Chucky that he wanted to feature on the helmet. The idea was to create a terrifying yet bold look that would turn heads. On one side of the custom painted Shoei helmet, we airbrushed Chucky’s infamous scarred face, capturing every creepy detail. His wild orange hair, menacing grin, and stitched scars were painted with precision, making the character pop. On the opposite side, we added Chucky holding his signature knife, ready for action. These details brought the custom painted Chucky helmet to life.

For the background, I wanted to add depth and a touch of mystery. Using custom helmet airbrushing, I blended dark tones like black and gray with subtle hints of red to create a smoky, eerie effect. This gave the design a sinister vibe, perfect for a Chucky theme. To add even more detail, I airbrushed faint images of blades in the background. It was a subtle nod to the character’s origin that tied the design together.

The top of the helmet featured Chucky’s happy face, as if to say, “Wanna play?”  The side of the custom airbrushed street helmet displayed a full view of Chucky standing in his overalls, with a nightmarish grin that perfectly suited the theme. The tinted visor complemented the design without taking away from the art, allowing Jay to ride in style while still keeping the helmet functional.

One of the challenges with this custom helmet painting project was ensuring the details stood out on the Shoei RF1200’s curved surface. With careful planning and steady airbrushing, we achieved a smooth, seamless look that made every element sharp and visible. The combination of vibrant colors and intricate details made this Street helmet a true standout.

To finish the project, we applied multiple layers of clear coat to protect the design, color sanding between each session. This gave the Street Bike custom Helmet a PPG Envirobase glossy finish that not only looked amazing but also ensured durability. The final result was a stunning custom painted street helmet that perfectly captured the essence of Chucky while still being practical for everyday use.

Jay was thrilled with his custom bike helmet, and he couldn’t wait to show it off.
