Blind Rhino -Custom Auto Racing Helmet
This Blind Rhino -custom auto racing helmet I got the privilege to custom paint for Justin Slaughter of Nashville, Tennessee. Justin and his family love to have fun and try new things. Lately, they started something super exciting—auto racing. Justin says he has been “crashing since 2024″ To go with his race car, he wanted a special custom painted auto racing helmet with their trademark: Blind Rhino
The four sons—Reid, Drew, Lane, and Evan—are the team brains. They designed the Blind Rhino logo and theme, and are heading off the design and media operations. They claim the name fits because Dad’s big, gray, and blind… The boys drew out the logo, team look, and it was one of the best logos I’ve ever seen. The colors are simple and perfect, and the idea is just sick. These boys are true geniuses.
We used custom helmet painting and helmet airbrushing to bring the Blind Rhino them to life on the plain white lid. This custom painted Blind Rhino helmet ended up with a topographic pattern as Justin requested. Similarly to a racetrack map with thin lines, twists, and turns that made the background of the helmet look pretty sharp. Justin picked a few styles he liked, and we used those as inspiration.
For colors, we picked some awesome blues. A dark, midnight metallic blue and a bright, glowing ice blue. These shades really popped and helped the helmet stay in line with the “Blind Rhino” team colors and gave it that fast, bright look. This custom painted automotive helmet turned out so clean and cool, and the freedom Justin let me have for adjustments I think helped with ideas as I was laying it all out.
The helmet painting process took time, but it was worth it. Using custom helmet airbrushing, we made sure every detail looked just right. This custom airbrushed helmet was one of the most fun helmets I’ve ever done – their story behind it was so special. Justin’s family reminded me of the kind of that family feel you get in motocross and karting. Everyone working together. Everyone having fun. That’s what it’s all about.
Making this custom painted auto helmet made me smile the whole time. I could just picture Justin racing with his cool custom auto race helmet, while his boys cheered him on. Knowing the story behind it made every paint stroke more meaningful.
This wasn’t just any custom painted helmet. It was a family project, a symbol of adventure, and a whole lot of fun rolled into one. It’s why I love helmet painting—you never know what kind of cool, personal story is behind each one.
I hope I get to meet Justin, his wife Eve, and the boys someday soon. They’re awesome. And this airbrushed Blind Rhino helmet will always be one of my favorites. Just too cool!
