Baja Race Helmets

Joe Occhipinti from Moscow, Pennsylvania needed a matching set of Baja Race helmets. He needed a set of custom painted helmets for another event…  custom painted helmets for both he and his co-pilot, Dave Gibbs. They were going to race in an off-road truck event in April, and they wanted to look slick while doing it.

Joe asked me to airbrush a pair of custom painted Baja helmets that would match their team and their truck. This kind of helmet painting is always fun because you get to spin off of a specific idea given to you by the owner.  O&S Electric, the corporate sponsor was the main logo and the company colors for the design. He gave me a lot of freedom to make something bold and exciting.

For these custom offroad helmets, I wanted to do something that looked tough, fast, and original. I used helmet airbrushing to create a weathered, burnt look. The helmets looked like they had already been through a hellish desert race. But adding bright candy oriental blue pinstriping to make everything come together gave them a clean look as well… Little details made these custom painted off-road helmets sharp and fast.

These helmets were manufactured by IMPACT, and they are perfect for off-road racing. A little custom helmet airbrushing gave the helmets a rough and ready look, just like Joe’s race truck. These helmets matched the truck’s style and colors, making the whole team look united and professional.

It was important to me that the airbrushed helmets looked strong but clean. I didn’t want them to be too messy or hard to read. That’s what makes custom helmet painting fun—you get to mix wild ideas with good design. Joe and Dave’s custom painted Baja helmets turned out just right.

Having a great custom painted trophy truck helmet is too cool. The custom airbrushed Baja race helmets I made for each of them were one-of-a-kind. No one else has one like em.

I always like working with Joe. He give the freedom to be creative, and that always helps with the final pieces. He trusted my ideas and gave me space to add some cool tricks. I used layers of paint and clearcoat to make sure the helmets would last and stay bright. When the sun hits the blue pinstriping on the custom painted Baja helmet, it really shines and bounces out.

This is what I love about helmet painting. Whether it’s for motorcycles, scooters, or racing trucks, every custom painted helmet is a chance to tell a story. Joe and Dave’s helmets tell the story of a team that races hard and looks fast doing it. These offroad custom painted helmets aren’t just for safety—they show off who they are.

So if you ever see two guys flying through the desert in a trophy truck, wearing these bright O&S custom painted off-road helmets, it’s Joe and Dave.  That’s the power of great custom helmet painting and helmet airbrushing—it turns gear into art.  (what a superb chat gpt paragraph)   GAGme
