Freestyle MX Custom Helmet -Anthony Murray

Pro Freestyle Motocross rider Anthony Murray from Murrieta, California, wanted something special for his latest custom painted MX helmet. A new Freestyle MX helmet -Anthony Murray style is what was accomplished. He gave us a few ideas: crosses on the sides, his name prominently displayed, roses for detail, and praying hands on the top. With those instructions and an idea of his direction, I began the process of custom helmet painting to create a design that would stand out at shows.

We started with a Shoei moto helmet, perfect for this project, as Shoei’s are the best built lids on the planet, in my opinion.  As I have disassembled every damn lid there is out there. The clean white base provided the ideal canvas for what would bring Anthony’s ideas to life. Using helmet airbrushing, we carefully added the crosses on each side, giving them a sharp and detailed look. The metallic silver highlights on the crosses added some 3D stuff, which was needed to look righteous.

On the top of the airbrushed Shoei helmet, the hands were airbrushed with soft shading. It was the perfect centerpiece for this custom painted freestyle helmet, tying together the spiritual elements Anthony wanted to highlight.

For the sides and back, we included blue roses to balance the entire helmet color.  Along with the roses, the Cyclehutt logo on back, airbrushed with a gradient effect that blended in.

The custom helmet airbrushing process took hours of detailed work, from layering colors to adding fine lines and textures, besides the layout and planning. We made sure every element of the design was balanced, ensuring that the helmet wasn’t a bust in the end. The final product was a custom painted freestyle helmet that looked just as amazing up close as it did from the crowd during Anthony’s jaw-dropping stunts.

This custom painted MX helmet wasn’t just about the visuals; it was about capturing Anthony’s style and personality. As a pro rider in Freestyle Motocross, he needed something that reflected his skills, determination, and individuality. The crosses, roses, and praying hands told his story, while the sleek colors and bold details ensured he’d stand out every time he hit big.

I hope when Anthony got  his custom painted freestyle moto helmet for the first time via UPS, he was beyond excited. He said it was exactly what he had envisioned, and he couldn’t wait to wear it while performing and shooting video. Knowing that this custom painted motocross helmet would be part of his normal day, made me pretty pumped.
